Ramadan is a month of taqwa.

Being mindful of Allah (taqwa) is the goal of fasting and this leads to guidance.

“O Believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you become God-fearing”
(Qur’an 2:183)

“This is the Book of Allah, there is no doubt in it;2 it is a guidance for the pious”
(Qur’an 2:2)

To achieve this goal every Muslim must be able to answer, in some way, the following:

● How must we fast to become mindful of Allah?
● Why must we be mindful of Allah?
● Why should we seek Allah’s guidance?

The Qur’an was first revealed in the month of Ramadan. One of its main objectives is to lead people out of darkness into light. (Qur’an 14:1)

With the ongoing genocide in Gaza, an ever increasing Godless world, and challenges facing the Muslim community, what guidance can we derive from the Qur’an to take our world out of darkness and into light?
